This 62 Dodge Dart wagon was brought to the shop in pretty bad shape. Major rust problems in the floor, rocker panels, fenders and quarter panels. New sheet metal was located for the floors and a donor car was located for the exterior metal. Only problem was it was a Plymouth and the wheel openings were a bit different. This one took a lot of cutting, fitting and fabricating of the sheet metal but the results turned out nice. The owner installed a fairly mild 440 which propelled the car to mid 12 second times.

The car was brought back in about 2 years after the initial build for a little updating to the motor. We installed a pair of Indy 440EZ heads, Crane roller rockers, a custom ground Chet Herbert roller cam and an Edelbrock dual quad intake with a pair of Edelbrock carbs (to keep it Nostalgia Super Stock legal). The car now runs mid 11's and is deadly consistant.

The wagon the day the owner bought it...

Nasty looking quarter panels...

Cutting away the old metal...

Trial fitting the replacement metal.
The underlying rust was acid treated and sealed to prevent future problems...

The left quarter panel wasn't much better.

All welded up and ready for filler...

Another view of the finished panel...

This was the good part of the floor...

New metal in the front floor...

... and the rear floor...

This is the motor after we updated it...

Finished project leaving the starting line. This photo was taken before the motor update...
