Remember when cars didn't look like every other car on the road? Each had its own personality and could be bought with some real horsepower under the hood. Hemis, Rat Motors, dual quads, tri-power or six packs, 4 speed, dual exhaust. The list of options went on and the only thing slowing you down was the size of your wallet. You could order a monster motor in a small package and terrorize the boulevards in your Goat, Hemi Cuda, Super Bee, Boss Mustang, Z/28 or any number of cars that were capable of setting you back in your seat.
Well, those days are back. Muscle cars are in big demand and what a better place to see them in action than on a drag strip doing what they were built to do. Nostalgia Muscle Car Racing has been growing in popularity over the last few years and along with Nostalgia Super Stocks, there are more events popping up each year to take your car to and run against other muscle cars from that era. You won't have a rice burner staging next to you..... nothing else but more pure American muscle.
There are a lot of different approaches to building a car to run in NMC. Many are street driven fully restored cars, others are purpose built for racing only. No matter which way you go, it is a fun and exciting way to race. Cars can be built on a tight budget and they may not be as fast or pretty as the fully restored or race prepped cars, but as long as the car can meet the minimum index, you can race it. More than one race has been won by the slower cars!
